Collegedale Police Department The Weekend Highlights Friday, August 26, 2022

An individual reported that their keys were lost at the gym on the campus of Southern Adventist University. 

A residential alarm in the South District was discovered to have been accidentally activated by the resident. 

Walmart reported a theft. 

A West District business alarm was found to have been accidentally activated by an employee. 

A South District resident was arrested at their home for leaving the scene of an accident in the 9600 block of Apison Pike and evading police. 

Collegedale police were requested to assist Chattanooga police by responding to a panic alarm and a disorder at a Lee Highway gas station just outside the city’s West District city limits. Collegedale units responded and assisted until Chattanooga units could arrive and handle the situation.

A concerned citizen reported that two people were having sex in a vehicle parked in a West District parking lot. The vehicle was located, but no one was inside. 

A traffic stop in the 5600 block of Lee Highway led to the driver’s arrest for a Collegedale narcotics warrant.

An individual called in that their vehicle was being burglarized in a West District parking lot. Officers arrived and checked the vehicle and the surrounding area. There were no signs of a burglary or any criminal activity.

A concerned citizen requested police to check the well-being of a an individual with an infant holding a sign begging for money in a West District parking lot. The individual and baby were in good health and had the property owner’s permission to be there. 

Officers received a call about a vehicle allegedly parked illegally in a handicap spot in the parking lot of a West District apartment complex. An officer located the vehicle and found that it was parked legally. As a result no enforcement action was taken. 

A traffic stop in the 8900 block of Apison Pike led to the occupant being charged with possession of illegal narcotics. 

The individual with an infant that had previously been begging for money with permission in one West District parking lot moved to another to do the same, this time without the permission of that property owner. Police were called to remove them from the property and they did so without incident.  

Walmart reported a theft. The suspect was identified and charges are pending. 

A traffic stop in the 10500 block of Lee Highway led to the driver’s arrest for driving without a license. 

A South District resident of Southern Adventist University’s student housing reported that they had witnessed an individual helping another intoxicated individual into a car before leaving. The resident was worried that the intoxicated individual was too impaired to say no if they needed to. It was learned that the impaired individual was not a student and no one on campus knew who they were.

An officer responded to an East District apartment complex after receiving reports of loud music coming from the parking lot. Everything was quiet when the officer arrived.

Two Collegedale fugitives were booked on their warrants. 

An officer checked the well-being of an elderly East District resident. Everything checked out ok. 

Officers responded to a hold up alarm at a West District business. The alarm was accidentally activated. 

An officer assisted with a broken down motorist in the 4900 block of Ooltewah Ringgold Road. 

An officer made contact with two individuals trespassing on Railroad property in the West District. The individuals left the area without incident. 

Officers located an open door to a closed business in the West District. They checked the building and secured the door. 

Police completed a report in the East District after two unoccupied vehicles collided after one had slipped out of gear.

A traffic stop in the 8600 block of Old Lee Highway led to the driver being charged with driving on a suspended license. 

Officers responded to a mental health crisis in the South District. 

Police received reports of four wheelers on the road in the West District. Contact was made with the four wheelers and their riders, who agreed not to ride them on the roadway.  

A traffic stop in the 5600 block of Little Debbie Parkway for a window tint violation resulted in the driver’s arrest for driving on a revoked license and for having warrants out of Collegedale and Soddy Daisy. 

While conducting a business check at Walmart an officer was waved down by an individual claiming that their vehicle had been struck while they were inside shopping. The other vehicle involved had fled the scene.
