U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann has expressed his support for the final passage of the Laken Riley Act in the House of Representatives. In a statement, Fleischmann highlighted the significance of this legislation as a major step in immigration reform.
"Today, I proudly voted for the final passage of the Laken Riley Act. This bill represents one of the first major immigration reforms Congress has passed in years," said Fleischmann. He emphasized that American citizens have shown a strong desire for action against illegal immigration and criminal activities associated with it.
The act is named after Laken Riley, who was tragically murdered by an illegal alien last year. Fleischmann stated, "The tragic murder of Laken Riley at the hands of an illegal alien last year should never have happened." He believes that once President Trump signs this act into law, it will provide law enforcement with essential tools to prevent similar incidents.
Fleischmann also acknowledged bipartisan support for the bill and called on lawmakers from both parties to work together on further border security measures. "I thank my bipartisan colleagues in the House for supporting this important bill and urge all my colleagues, regardless of party, to continue to come together to pass commonsense border security reforms that will protect our nation and our fellow Americans."
