The Chattanooga softball split on the final day of the Gardner-Webb Red and Black Classic and finished 4-1 over the weekend.

Chattanooga's lone loss came in its second game against Harvard this weekend.

UTC opened play on Friday with a 7-3 win against the Crimson and fell 5-2 early Sunday morning to Harvard after a very late-night Saturday sweep. Saturday's game against host Gardner-Webb was behind by an hour due to a late finish in the previous game. That made the 7:00 p.m. game get started even later.

UTC held off the Bulldogs with a 3-2 win and then came from behind to beat Sacred Heart in the nightcap, 6-4 on a three-run blast from Presley Williamson.

The Mocs first pitch Sunday was at 9:00 a.m. against the Crimson. Chattanooga led early, but couldn't hold on. In UTC's final game, the Mocs posted a 5-0 victory to improve to 9-5 on the year.

Emily Coltharp led off the bottom of the first with a single through the left side and advanced to second on a passed ball. Zoe Wright, batting second, advanced Coltharp to third on a sac bunt and Olivia Lipari's double to centerfield got the first run on the board for Chattanooga.

The Mocs got a another run on the board in the second inning on an infield single, scoring Riley Kokinda. Jayce Purdy led off with a single up the middle and advanced to second on a sac bunt by Presley Williamson. Kokinda walked to put runners at first and second and a bunt single by Addy Keylon loaded the bases.

Chattanooga's shot at a second run was thwarted with a throw to the plate to get Purdy out. Wright, however, drove home Kokinda on an infield single in the next at bat to make it 2-0 in favor of the Mocs. A shot to third for an unassisted out at the base thwarted the Mocs scoring threat.

Harvard took the lead in the top of the third on an RBI single and a three-run home run with two outs to make it 4-2 and added a fifth run in the fifth.

Peja Goold went three innings and took the loss for the Mocs. She allowed four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts. Taylor Long came on in relief in the fourth inning and tallied five strikeouts, one run on three hits and walked four.

The Mocs were 8-of-25 with Emily Coltharp the only Moc with multiple hits going 2-of-4 with a run scored. Wright and
