With less than five minutes expired on the clock, lightning in the area forced Chattanooga and Belmont off the soccer pitch Sunday afternoon. After a brief chance of a restart, another strike cleared the field for good. Due to NCAA restart rules stating that the game must restart no more than three hours after its scheduled start time, both sides were forced to call the contest after another strike in the area after the predetermined time made a restart impossible.
The game will not be rescheduled.
The Mocs hit the road next week for a Sunday matchup at Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The game is set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time.
