Collegedale Police Department The Weekend Highlights Friday, August 5, 2022

Walmart reported a theft. 

A traffic stop in the 5500 block of Little Debbie Parkway resulted in the driver’s arrest for DUI. 

Officers responded to a hold up alarm at a West District store. Everything checked out ok. 

Police responded to a disorder involving a renter and landlord in the East District having a dispute over rent and eviction issues.

A glass break alarm was activated at a West District business. Everything checked out ok. 

Officers were called to keep the peace between individuals in the East District. 

Police responded to the 5500 block of Little Debbie in references to individuals begging for money on private property. The individuals were asked to leave at the request of the property owner. 

An alarm was activated at a South District school. Everything checked out ok. 

A traffic stop in the 5900 block of Main Street led to the driver being charged with driving on a suspended license. 

Officers responded to a West District home after receiving reports of elder abuse. 

Police made contact with an individual at the Collegedale Walmart, who had previously been banned from the property. The individual was arrested for criminal trespass and was also found to have several Collegedale warrants for their arrest. 

A traffic stop in the 9200 block of Lee Highway led to the driver’s arrest for driving on revoked for DUI. 

Collegedale police received reports that an individual was being chased by an ex-boyfriend in their car. The reporting person advised that the suspect had just passed them in their car and that they were now behind them. Officers located the vehicles and conducted a traffic stop in the 8200 block of Apison Pike. It was discovered that the suspect, a seventeen year old juvenile, had pointed a sword at the reporting person’s new partner and had hit the new partner’s car with it several times. The suspect was arrested for aggravated assault and vandalism.

Police were dispatched to a West District business regarding a disorder between two people. After speaking with both individuals no crime was found to have been committed. 

Two Collegedale fugitives were booked on their warrants. 

A traffic stop in the 10500 block of Lee Highway resulted in the driver’s arrest for DUI. 

Officers were called regarding a domestic disorder in an East District home. No crime had been committed. 

Police were called to a West District apartment complex after two children had knocked on the door of a tenant asking for help. The children’s parent was located and advised that they had gotten into an argument with a former spouse over the phone and had upset the children. 

An apartment building in the West District was struck by lightening during severe weather which activated the fire alarms. No fire was found. 

Police were called to an assisted living facility and met with an individual who advised that their elderly sibling had taken their car and was missing. The missing individual was located at an address in Apison and safely returned to the assisted living facility. 

An alarm was activated at a West District business. It was an accidental activation. 

Officers were requested to check the well being of an individual seemingly stranded at a West District gas station in a mini van and with a baby. The individual, on their way to Kentucky from Florida, was located and was out of gas. The officers were able to get the individual back on the road.

An individual in the South District reported that they had received a suspicious message from an unknown email and wanted to let law enforcement know in case it was a scam. 

Officers got out with a broken down vehicle in the roadway in the 5500 block of Little Debbie Parkway. There was no one around. After an unsuccessful search of the area for the driver the vehicle was towed. 

Police responded to reports of loud music in the South District’s Fox Trails neighborhood. The area was checked but no loud music was found. 

A West District business alarm was activated. Everything checked out ok. 

Police responded to an East District home after receiving reports of a domestic disorder. No disorder was found. 

A resident of the Integra Hills apartment complex in the West District reported that they had come outside and witnessed 7 to 8 individuals walking through the parking lot pulling on multiple parked car door handles. The witness stated that they had all left in a silver four door car. Police and sheriff’s deputies checked other neighborhoods and areas nearby but didn’t find the vehicle or any burglarized vehicles. 

A tractor trailer broke down in the 10700 block of Lee Highway. Officers stood by and assisted traffic until a towing company was able to arrive and clear the roadway.
