Chattanooga senior Pitts and freshman Cowart received postseason honors from the Southern Conference, the league office announced on May 5. Pitts was named to the All-Conference Second Team, while Cowart earned a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team.

These recognitions highlight the contributions of both players to Chattanooga’s softball season. Pitts leads the team in hitting with a .361 batting average, ranking tenth in the conference. She also leads in home runs for Chattanooga, is second in runs batted in, has a .576 slugging percentage, 27 walks, seven sacrifice flies, three sacrifice hits, is perfect in stolen bases at 3-for-3, and maintains a .984 fielding percentage at first base.

Pitts had three walk-off hits this season: a two-run homer against Furman, an RBI triple against Southern, and a two-run double during a comeback win over Georgia State. Cowart started 47 games out of her 49 appearances this season—all in right field—and is batting .344 with three doubles. She has drawn 18 walks and holds a .415 on-base percentage. On base paths she leads Chattanooga with 18 steals out of 19 attempts and ranks fifth overall in the conference.

Chattanooga will host the Southern Conference Softball Championship this week at Frost Stadium. The Mocs are set to face No. 8 seeded Furman on Wednesday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m., following their sweep of Furman last weekend to close out regular season play. UTC enters postseason competition riding a four-game winning streak.
