The Chattanooga Mocs women’s tennis team is set to travel to Louisiana for its first-ever matches against Southern University and Southeastern Louisiana University. The non-conference games will take place on Friday and Saturday, with the Mocs facing Southern in Baton Rouge before heading to Hammond for the match against Southeastern Louisiana.

“It’s great for the team to get an opportunity to play some different programs here in Louisiana,” said head coach Chad Camper. “Getting back outside and playing in the outdoor elements is much needed after the winter and early spring months.”

Chattanooga enters these contests with a 5-1 record this season, following a recent 7-0 victory over Tennessee State. The team currently holds the highest win-loss percentage (.833) in its league as it prepares for Southern Conference play starting March 15 at UNCG. A freshman has led Chattanooga at the No. 1 singles position, posting a 4-1 record so far.

Southern has started its season with two losses, including a defeat by Southeastern Louisiana on February 8. Their scheduled matches against Tulane and LSU were postponed or canceled prior to their game against SLU.

Southeastern Louisiana began its year with six consecutive wins before falling to Florida Gulf Coast earlier this week. During their winning streak, they lost only three team points across six matches, four of which were played at home.

After these games in Louisiana, Chattanooga will continue its road schedule next week with a non-conference match at Belmont in Nashville.
