The Chattanooga Mocs softball team will host Mercer in a three-game Southern Conference series on April 3 and 4, with games moved up due to Easter Sunday. The doubleheader is scheduled for Friday at 1:00 p.m., and Saturday’s game will also begin at 1:00 p.m. at Frost Stadium.
This matchup is significant as the Mocs hold a narrow one-game lead over Mercer in their all-time series, standing at 33-32. However, since Mercer’s entry into the Southern Conference, the Bears have led the rivalry with an 11-19 record against Chattanooga. In home games played in Chattanooga, UTC leads the series with a record of 16-10.
The weekend features special promotions for young fans. Friday is Disney Princess Day, where children are encouraged to dress as their favorite princesses and participate in themed crafts and photo opportunities. Saturday will include a Community Egg Hunt and free Scrappy squishes for kids while supplies last.
Chattanooga enters the series with a season record of 13-20-1 overall and 1-5 in conference play. The team recently secured an extra-inning walk-off win against Georgia State. Offensively, they are batting .294 as a team with notable contributions including four home runs from one player who also hit a crucial two-run shot against Georgia State. On the pitching side, UTC holds a team ERA of 5.34 and has recorded over eight strikeouts per seven innings from its leading pitcher.
Mercer comes into the contest at 15-18 overall and an even conference mark of 3-3 after winning its most recent weekend series against Wofford at home—a victory that marked their fifteenth home win this season, setting a new program record for single-season home victories. However, they have faced challenges on the road this year. The Bears are hitting .267 collectively with Olivia Lenzen leading offensively (.405 average) alongside strong performances from Avery Barton (11 home runs) and Grace Jones (.330 average). Their pitching staff has compiled an ERA of 7.09 across more than two hundred innings.
Tickets for all games can be purchased online or at Frost Stadium prior to first pitch.
