Chattanooga secured an 8–7 extra-inning victory over Georgia State on March 31 after overcoming a five-run deficit at Jim Frost Stadium. The win brings the Mocs’ season record to 13–20-1.
The game was marked by Chattanooga’s comeback, as the team trailed 6-1 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. A five-run rally, including a two-run home run, tied the score and forced extra innings. In the eighth inning, a senior player delivered a walk-off double with bases loaded and no outs, sealing the win for Chattanooga.
Key moments included singles and walks that loaded the bases in both late innings. Sacrifice flies and aggressive base running helped narrow Georgia State’s lead before Leone hit a crucial home run to tie it up in the seventh. After Georgia State regained a one-run advantage in their half of the eighth, Chattanooga responded with consecutive hits and walks before Pitts drove in two runs for the victory.
Wright and Cowart each had three hits and scored twice, while Pitts contributed three runs batted in with her double and sacrifice fly. Leone also made an impact with her only plate appearance resulting in two RBIs from her home run. The Mocs finished with eight runs on ten hits but left eight runners stranded.
Pitching duties were shared among multiple players, who combined for five strikeouts while limiting walks throughout most of the game. Georgia State recorded twelve hits but could not hold onto its early lead despite scoring runs across several innings.
Chattanooga will resume Southern Conference play with upcoming games scheduled for Friday and Saturday afternoons. Fans can follow live statistics or video streams online.
