Chattanooga defeated Furman 11-3 in five innings on May 3 at Jim Frost Stadium, closing out the regular season with a four-game winning streak. The Mocs secured an early lead, scoring five runs in the first inning and adding four more in the second.
The game was highlighted by a bases-clearing double to center field during the opening frame, as Chattanooga took advantage of three Furman errors over the first two innings. The team finished with 11 hits and ended the contest under the run rule after scoring two additional runs in the fifth inning.
Key contributors included players who went 2-for-3 with an RBI, another who went 1-for-2 with three RBIs, and one who finished 2-for-2 with four RBIs. Several others added doubles and drove in runs as part of a balanced offensive effort. In pitching, one player allowed only one hit and no runs over two innings before another finished out the game to secure the win for Chattanooga.
With this victory, Chattanooga improved its record to 22-27-1 overall and moved to 10-11 in Southern Conference play. Furman’s record dropped to 13-39 overall and 5-16 within conference competition.
Before Sunday’s game, Chattanooga honored nine seniors from its roster. Looking ahead, Chattanooga will face Furman again on Wednesday at Frost Stadium in the opening round of the Southern Conference Tournament. The winner will advance to play No. 4 Wofford later that day.
