The Chattanooga softball team lost both of its games on March 8 to close out the UCA Milisa Moore/Shane Lamb Tournament at Shock Stadium in Conway, Arkansas. The Mocs were defeated 11-8 by UL Monroe and then fell 10-2 in five innings to host Central Arkansas.

These results matter as they affect the team’s overall record and momentum heading into future games. The Mocs now hold a season record of 10-15-1 and will look to rebound in their upcoming home game.

In the first game against UL Monroe, Chattanooga collected 11 hits. One player went 3-for-4 with five runs batted in, including a two-run double in the sixth inning and a three-run home run in the seventh. Another player added two hits and a double, while several teammates contributed with runs or multiple times on base. Despite falling behind early, Chattanooga rallied late but could not overcome UL Monroe’s offense, which included key extra-base hits from Morgan Brown and Dally Engle. A freshman pitcher took the loss after allowing five runs over three innings.

In the second game against Central Arkansas, Chattanooga scored first but was quickly overtaken by the Bears’ offense. Central Arkansas hit a three-run homer in the first inning and continued to add runs throughout the game with four doubles and a strong performance from Kaitlyn Graham, who drove in four runs. Chattanooga managed five hits but struggled against UCA starter Sara Currie, who allowed just one earned run over five innings.

Looking ahead, Chattanooga will return home to host Kennesaw State on Tuesday, March 17 for Military Appreciation Day. Special T-shirts will be given away at the gate to a limited number of fans.
