The Chattanooga Mocs women’s tennis team will play its final regular season home match against Mercer on Wednesday, April 8, at the UTC Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.

This matchup is significant as Chattanooga aims to secure a top four seed in the upcoming Southern Conference Tournament. The Mocs currently hold third place in the league standings and are looking to recover from recent losses to ETSU and Furman.

Chattanooga enters the contest with a record of 14-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Despite losing their last two matches, the team has performed well this season, with one sophomore achieving a notable singles record of 14-2 this spring. Four players have recorded at least eleven singles wins each.

Mercer arrives with an overall record of 8-10 and stands at 1-3 in conference games. The Bears recently ended a six-match losing streak by sweeping Western Carolina. Their doubles teams have also shown strength this season, especially the pair of Ines Homberg Fernandez and Marina de Diego Quinones who have compiled a strong record on court No.1.

Historically, Chattanooga leads the series against Mercer with fourteen wins out of nineteen meetings; however, Mercer has won the last four encounters between these teams, including close matches over the past two seasons.

Looking ahead, Chattanooga will conclude its regular season schedule with an away match against Samford on Saturday, April 11. More information about upcoming matches can be found on GoMocs.com.
