The Chattanooga Mocs women’s tennis team will travel to Greenville, South Carolina, for a Southern Conference match against nationally ranked No. 72 Furman on Friday morning, according to an April 2 announcement.
This matchup comes as the Mocs look to recover from their first conference loss of the season last week against East Tennessee State University. The team currently holds a record of 14-3 overall and is third in the Southern Conference standings with a league record of 3-1, trailing both ETSU and Furman who are tied at the top with undefeated conference records.
Friday’s contest will mark the teams’ 57th meeting, with Chattanooga trailing in the series. The last time Chattanooga secured a win at Furman was in April 1997, and their most recent victory over the Paladins came at home in March 2015. The Paladins have won thirteen straight matches against Chattanooga.
The Mocs’ singles players have combined for a strong dual action record this spring, while doubles pairings have also shown consistency. Notably, junior Emma Pedretti and sophomore Savannah Presson hold an impressive doubles record together this season.
Furman enters Friday’s match ranked No. 72 in national polls and has won five consecutive matches—all within conference play—while sharing first place in league standings with ETSU. Since 2014, Furman’s program has earned six NCAA Tournament appearances along with multiple regular season and tournament titles.
