The Chattanooga Mocs women’s tennis team extended its winning streak to eight matches with a 5-2 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan on March 13 at the UTC Tennis Center.

This win brings Chattanooga’s season record to 10-1, marking its best start since an 11-1 opening in 2023. The match was played outdoors on a sunny Friday afternoon and saw the Mocs face off against Tennessee Wesleyan, which entered the contest ranked No. 6 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association NAIA National Rankings.

“The team fought extremely hard today,” said head coach following the match. “Tennessee Wesleyan is a great program that’s ranked high nationally. The program improved today.”

In doubles play, Chattanooga secured wins at courts one and three to claim the doubles point, while Tennessee Wesleyan took court two. In singles competition, Magarira and Presson gave Chattanooga an early lead with straight-set victories at positions one and two. Tennessee Wesleyan responded with wins at positions four and six, but Pedretti clinched the overall match for UTC with a three-set win on court three. Fenton completed the day with a comeback victory at position five.

Chattanooga’s eight-match win streak matches its longest since achieving eight consecutive wins during the same season in 2023. Attendance for the match was recorded at 31 spectators, and play lasted just under three hours.

Looking ahead, Chattanooga will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina for its Southern Conference opener against UNCG on Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m., with updates available on GoMocs.com.
