The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team finished the first day of the Coach Mo Classic in 12th place after two rounds on March 30 in Saint Augustine, Florida. The team posted scores of 303 and 311 at St. Johns Golf & Country Club and is four shots outside the top ten.
This result is significant as the Mocs competed with only four players, making each shot crucial for their overall standing. The tournament brings together several strong collegiate teams, providing a challenging environment for all participants.
Head coach Katie Woodruff said, “Playing with four is tough, but it also helps us to value each shot a little bit more, no matter how tough a day it is. It reinforces fighting for every shot.” According to the event leaderboard, Furman leads with a total score of 580 over two rounds. Florida State and Purdue are tied for second place at 582.
Individually for Chattanooga, Healey leads the squad with a three-over-par total of 147 and sits tied for 14th overall. Cooper had an opening round of two-under-par (70), while Healey recorded six birdies in her second round and now ranks sixth in career birdies at Chattanooga with a total of 253. Her even-par round marked her twenty-first career par or better card, tying her for seventh all-time among Mocs golfers.
The final round will take place Tuesday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Chattanooga will play alongside FIU, Georgia Southern, and Michigan as they aim to move up from their current position.
