The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team finished in 13th place at the Coach Mo Classic, which concluded on March 31 in Saint Augustine, Florida. The team completed the tournament with a total score of 917 over three rounds, ending two strokes behind St. Thomas (Minnesota) and one ahead of CSU Bakersfield.
The result highlights the team’s ongoing efforts to improve as they prepare for future competitions. With only four players competing this week, the Mocs faced challenges but gained valuable experience playing in windy conditions that are expected again at their next event.
“Obviously, it was a bummer to only have four and not have our best stuff. It was another good experience playing in some wind because we’ll definitely have some the next time out at Purdue. We’ll continue to work and build on our group, and hopefully we’ll have Erin back soon,” said Coach Katie Woodruff about the team’s performance.
In individual results, Healey led Chattanooga with a total score of 222, finishing tied for 24th place overall. Cooper followed closely with a score of 223 and tied for 28th place. Both golfers excelled on par-5 holes during the tournament; Cooper finished four under par on those holes while Healey was three under.
Healey also reached a career milestone by recording her 255th birdie during this event, moving closer to fifth-place all-time among Chattanooga players. The record stands at 334 birdies by Emily McLennan set in 2016.
Looking ahead, the Mocs will compete next at the Boilermaker Classic hosted by Purdue University from April 12-13.
