The Chattanooga Mocs men’s basketball team will conclude its regular season with two Southern Conference home games against UNCG and VMI this week at McKenzie Arena. The first matchup is scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. ET against UNCG, followed by a Saturday game at 2 p.m. ET versus VMI. Both contests will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Tickets are available in advance online or through the McKenzie Arena Box Office during business hours.
Thursday’s game features a “Gold Out” promotion, while Saturday’s event will include Senior Day recognition before tip-off.
Chattanooga enters the final weekend after securing consecutive road victories, including a 93-72 win over The Citadel last Saturday. The team achieved a season-high 25-0 scoring run in that game and shot 61.1% from the field.
UNCG arrives following two losses last week and currently leads the Southern Conference in three-point shooting percentage at 36.1%. Justin Neely of UNCG is noted as a candidate for SoCon Player of the Year, leading NCAA Division I in total rebounds and defensive rebounds per game, ranking third nationally in total rebounds per game, and second in double-doubles.
In recent meetings between Chattanooga and UNCG, the Spartans have won eight of the last eleven matchups and five straight games inside McKenzie Arena. Chattanooga’s last home victory over UNCG was on February 29, 2020.
Against VMI, Chattanooga holds an advantage historically, having won 54 out of their previous 71 meetings.
The Mocs have posted back-to-back games with more than 60% shooting from the field for the first time since February 1993. They have also scored at least 90 points in consecutive games for the first time since January 2024. Under head coach Dan Earl, Chattanooga has a record of 21-1 when scoring at least 90 points and is undefeated this season when reaching at least 80 points.
Chattanooga’s current home record stands at six wins and seven losses this season. To maintain their streak of finishing above .500 at home—an achievement held throughout McKenzie Arena’s history—the Mocs must win both remaining home games.
Head coach Dan Earl recently recorded his 80th win with Chattanooga after last week’s victory over The Citadel. Guard Billy Smith enters this week with a career total of 996 points across his time playing Division I basketball.
