The Chattanooga Mocs men’s tennis team will play against nationally-ranked No. 60 East Tennessee State University (ETSU) on April 2 in Johnson City, according to an announcement on April 1. The Southern Conference matchup is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex, with no live scoring or video available.

This contest comes as Chattanooga looks to recover from two narrow losses last week in conference play. The team currently holds a record of nine wins and ten losses overall, and three wins and two losses within the Southern Conference standings.

Thursday’s meeting marks the fiftieth all-time encounter between Chattanooga and ETSU, with Chattanooga trailing in the series by fifteen wins to thirty-four. ETSU has won the last four meetings between the teams, including a 6-1 victory over Chattanooga on March 29 of last year.

A win for Chattanooga would help solidify their position among the top four teams in the current conference standings. One junior player has achieved a notable singles record this season at the No. 1 position, securing fourteen victories out of eighteen matches and winning thirteen of his last fourteen completed contests.

ETSU enters Thursday’s match with sixteen consecutive victories after starting their season with three defeats against strong opponents such as Tennessee and Wake Forest. They remain undefeated at home this year and have not lost a home Southern Conference match since rejoining the league in 2015.
