The Chattanooga Mocs men’s tennis team will travel to Nashville for a non-conference match against Belmont on Friday, March 13, following a rescheduling from its original mid-January date. The contest is set to take place at the Beaman Family Tennis Complex with first serve scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

This matchup holds significance as both teams look to improve their records and gain momentum in the season. Chattanooga enters the match with a 5-7 record, while Belmont stands at 4-7.

Chattanooga aims to recover after a recent 4-0 loss to Jacksonville State, which was played under a ‘clinch-clinch’ format due to weather concerns. Despite this setback, the Mocs have secured victories in three of their last five matches and have shown resilience in close contests, winning three out of four matches decided by just one point. The team also seeks to extend its six-match win streak at the No. 1 singles position, although the most recent attempt ended unfinished against Jacksonville State’s top player.

Belmont prepares for this encounter after consecutive wins over Southern Conference opponents The Citadel and Wofford last week. Before facing Chattanooga, Belmont will play crosstown rival Lipscomb on Thursday in what is known as the “Battle of the Boulevard.” In series history between these two programs, Belmont leads narrowly with ten wins to Chattanooga’s nine. The teams have split four previous meetings in Nashville, with Chattanooga winning two of the last three since 2020.

Looking ahead, Chattanooga will host Costal Alabama Community College – South for another non-conference dual on Tuesday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center.
