The Chattanooga Mocs men’s tennis team lost 4-0 to Jacksonville State during a non-conference match on March 10 at the UTC Tennis Center.
This result is significant as it marks Chattanooga’s seventh loss of the season, bringing their overall record to 5-7. Jacksonville State improved its record to 11-2 and has now won four consecutive matches against Chattanooga, as well as seven of the last eight meetings between the teams.
The match was delayed by an hour due to weather concerns and played in a clinch-clinch format. In doubles play, Jacksonville State secured the point with wins on courts two and three. Aman Dahiya and Lucius Soller defeated their opponents 6-3 on court two, while Alin Fatu and Charlie Penman posted a 6-1 victory on court three. The first doubles match was left unfinished with Jacksonville State leading.
In singles competition, Marko Milosavljevic gave Jacksonville State its second point with a straight-set win at No. 4 singles. David Krasner followed with another win at No. 2 singles, defeating his opponent 6-3, 6-4. The deciding point came when Alin Fatu won at No. 6 singles by a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Chattanooga head coach remains at 99 career victories with the program and will seek his milestone hundredth win in his next match, which will also be his two-hundredth contest leading the team.
Looking ahead, Chattanooga is scheduled to play Belmont in Nashville on Friday in a rescheduled non-conference dual originally set for early January.
