The Chattanooga Mocs women’s beach volleyball team won both of their matches against Tusculum and Wingate on March 13, starting the weekend with consecutive 5-0 victories at the Atkins Family Beach Volleyball Facility in Clarksville, Tennessee.

These wins mark the second and third straight victories for the Mocs, bringing their season record to 3-3. The matches were played under windy conditions, which posed a challenge for all teams involved.

Head Coach Darin Van Horn said, “It was a windy day. It’s easy to be distracted by the elements and let it throw off your rhythm and style of play. I thought we did a great job of staying composed and keeping it simple when we needed to as well as taking advantage of the wind when we had a chance. Proud of each pair and how they contributed to each win.”

In their match against Tusculum, Chattanooga swept all five pairs, winning most sets decisively. The trend continued against Wingate with another sweep. Over these two matches, Chattanooga won 20 out of 22 sets among their five starting pairs. During this three-match win streak dating back to the season opener against Austin Peay, the team has compiled a set record of 30-3.

The second pairing led by Vale allowed only 41 total points across two wins and currently leads the squad with a 4-1 mark this season after strong performances in both matches. The third pair also limited opponents’ scoring significantly, allowing just 44 points combined over two matches.

Looking ahead, Chattanooga will continue its participation in the “Stache Bash” event on Saturday with another match against Tusculum followed by a contest versus Austin Peay.
